Presiding Elder Janice Lewis is a native of Madison, AL. She has lived in Huntsville, AL for over forty years. She is the daughter of the Reverend Ophelia Davis of Huntsville, AL and Willis Fletcher of Madison, AL., the mother of Christopher Lewis (Yolanda) of Madison, AL and Tiffany Lewis of Huntsville, AL., the proud grandmother of four handsome young men, Jaylan, Trey, Gavin and Joshua, all of Madison, AL. and the sister of the Reverend Victoria Price of Carson, MS and Dean Davis of Huntsville, AL.
Presiding Elder Lewis’ home church is Love Chapel. She was licensed to preach by Presiding Elder James A. Smith and was ordained and received her first pastoral appointment to Oak Grove C.M.E. Church by Bishop Richard Oliver Bass, while under the leadership of Presiding Elder Percy Jackson. She was the pastor at Oak Grove C.M.E. for thirteen years. While pastoring at Oak Grove, fourteen preachers answered their call to preach! After serving on the Huntsville District, Presiding Elder Lewis served on the Birmingham Region, Anniston District six years at Athens C.M.E. Church. In 2013 at the Annual Conference, she was appointed and has returned to the “Greater Huntsville District” as the Presiding Elder.
Presiding Elder Lewis is a proud Alumni of Alabama A&M. There, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work. Elder Lewis has served in various capacities at the District level of the C.M.E. Church such as the Director of Evangelism, Director of Children's Works, and as a member of the Board of Finances. At the Regional level, she has been a member on the Ministerial Examination Committee. Presiding Elder Lewis has a deep passion for children and youth. She wants to assist them to be all that they are called to be in Christ. Her deepest desire is to see the Joseph generation arise and dream again!
